Finding Application Parameters

  1. In the Administrative Tools group of the Explorer toolbar, click System Administration.
  2. Select Code Tables | Application Parameters.
The domain mapping information is displayed in the Domain Map snap-in. The System Configuration table is displayed in the System Configuration snap-in.

Creating/Deleting Application Parameters

You cannot create, insert, or delete any new information into Application Parameters. You can only change the values in the available fields.

Domain Map

This snap-in allows you to specify the following important domain mapping information:

Note: Domain mapping is specified during JustWare installation but can be updated at any time. Domain mapping information must be specified in order for JustWare to properly communicate with Active Directory.

System Configuration

This table allows you to set default values that affect the way JustWare functions. These values are set to defaults, so you simply need to review these defaults and modify them only if necessary. They are referenced globally, and include the following:

System Configuration Possible Values Description
Adult Age 15-25 Age at which someone is legally considered an adult. This value is used by certain JustWare database functions when displaying age information.
Admin Email Email The email address listed in this field will be where emails regarding JustWare crashes and unhandled exceptions are sent.
Default Local ID Number Type All Number Types in ctblNumberType Determines which number type will be used to populate the LocalID column in the Case table.
Show Inactive Statutes True/False If set to True, statutes with Expiration Date in the past or Activation Date in the future will show up in the results of a statute lookup.
Name Document Directory Path to Name file share This local path, or UNC path, is used to access the Name Document Directory to store and manage name documents.

Note: All new and copied documents from previous cases or names are now stored in the Document Directory. There is still the ability to have an instance of the filing cabinet pertain to a case or name.

Document Directory Path to file share

This local path, or UNC path, is used to access the Document Directory to store and manage documents. Documents will be stored using this directory path and then added to a folder named after the last two digits of the year.

Note: Changes to document directories will not take effect until JustWare is restarted. In previous versions of JustWare this was the Case Documents Directory. All new and copied documents from previous cases or names are now stored here. There is still the ability to have an instance of the filing cabinet pertain to a case or name.

Number of Days Displayed in Past Events View 0-1000 All past events that fall within the specified number of days past are displayed in the Past Events snap-in.
Allow Multiple PIPs per Case (Involvement Code 1) True/False If set to True, each case is allowed to have more than one Primary Involved Person.
Log When a Record is Viewed True/False If set to True, JustWare logs when a record is viewed.

Log When a Record is Deleted True/False If set to True, JustWare logs when a record is deleted. JustWare records the entire record as it existed at the time of deletion.
Caution: Logging when a record is deleted must be activated if your office is set up to sync events with Microsoft Exchange.
Tip: Use the Agency User Logging Report, located in the JustWare System Reports session, to view logging details for a specific user during a specified time frame. To maximize the amount of information this report can capture, ensure that this field is set to True.
Log When a Record is Updated True/False If set to True, JustWare logs when a record is updated. JustWare records the information as it existed prior to the modification. The actual updated information is not recorded.
Tip: Use the Agency User Logging Report, located in the JustWare System Reports session, to view logging details for a specific user during a specified time frame. To maximize the amount of information this report can capture, ensure that this field is set to True. To include the logging of the dismissal of pop-up reminders, this field must be set to True.
Log When a Record is Inserted True/False If set to True, JustWare logs when a record is inserted.
Tip: Use the Agency User Logging Report, located in the JustWare System Reports session, to view logging details for a specific user during a specified time frame. To maximize the amount of information this report can capture, ensure that this field is set to True.
Log User Access True/False If set to True, JustWare logs each user logon/logoff to provide information to administrators about how and when users are accessing the system.

Name Order in Standard Case Titles Last name first or first name first Set the name order for the case title to either Last Name, First Name or First Name, Last Name. Changes to this setting will only affect cases created or updated after saving changes to this setting (it does NOT retroactively update all case titles; that can only be done through the Maintenance Console). For information on creating custom case title rules, see Case Title Configuration.
How to Handle Auto-Allocation for Bonds Always Auto-Allocate Payments to Bonds Before Obligation or Never Auto-Allocate Payments to Bonds Set this configuration to either allocate payments received to bonds before obligations automatically, or to never allocate them automatically.

Tip: Automatic allocations to financial obligations can be handled independently of bonds through the business rule activity FinancialAllocateToObligationResult.

Default Time Zone List of time zones. Select a time zone that will act as the default time zone when dates are used in JustWare.

Tips for working with Time Zones

To ensure proper operation, the Database Server, Web Server, and SRS Server should all be running in the same time zone. If a user is in a different time zone than the servers, all of the dates and times shown in JustWare will be shown in the time zone of the machine that is running JustWare. Documents that are generated on that client will show the dates and times in the time zone of the client.

Ignore Scheduling Conflicts When Auto-Assigning Docket Instances True/False If set to True, scheduling conflicts between event involved names are ignored when an event is assigned to a docket instance as a result of a business rule or upon saving an event without manually selecting a docket instance. If set to False, scheduling conflicts will be considered before the event is assigned an instance.

Execute Business Rules When Copying a Case

True/False

If set to True, Before Update and After Update business rules will trigger on the insert of a copied case and all of the copied entities.

Business rules will trigger based on the session from which you are copying the case. For example, if you are copying from a session that has no Notes snap-in, business rules will not trigger on insert of Notes. It is recommended to copy from a session that has all the entities that you wish to trigger from.

Docket Linking for Copied Cases Unchanged, No Docket Link, Automatically Assign
Docket Linking for Copied Cases has been added to control how the Copy Case command assigns copied events to dockets. The options are Unchanged (Events are assign to the same docket as the copied case), No Docket Link and Automatically Assign.
If a duplicate mapping in JusticeBroker is being inserted first, JustWare checks whether that mapping is pointing to current record. If the mapping does not point to a record, the previous mapping is removed and the new one is inserted. If the mapping does point to a row, an application parameter can be set to overwrite duplicate mappings in JusticeBroker. This parameter can only be set from the Code Tables | Application Parameters view, not from the System Administration view. Set the parameter by typing the name of the mapping into the Parameter column and typing the word "overwrite" (case sensitive) in the PValue column. Without this parameter, a duplicate mapping will cause an error message to be displayed. With the parameter set, the previous mapping will be replaced by the new mapping.
