The Select a Docket dialog box allows you to manually specify which docket instance an event will be placed into.
In the Events snap-in of a case, click the Select a Docket button in the Docket Instance field. The Select a Docket dialog box opens, and you can select the docket instance that best meets the needs of the event.

With its simple design, the Select a Docket dialog box makes it easy to find the right docket instance for your event. Available instances that match criteria for the event are listed with all relevant information.
The Select a Docket dialog box automatically displays the first ten available docket instances with criteria matching the event. For example, if you create an event for a traffic hearing on a traffic-ticket case, the Select a Docket dialog box will only display docket instances that have been created to accept traffic hearing events. Additionally, it will only display docket instances that still have slots available for Docket Events. If a Calendar Docket has docket instances that are full, those instances will not appear.
To select a docket instance for the event you are adding, simply select an instance from the list and click Use Selected or press Enter.
Each part of the Select a Docket dialog box helps you to find an instance that will best meet the needs of the event you are adding. The following table describes these parts and how to use them.
Option | Description | ||
---|---|---|---|
Docket Instances area |
In the Docket Instances area, up to ten available instances with criteria matching the event are displayed. The Capacity (number of events already scheduled out of total available slots in this instance), Location, and Date are shown for each instance. In the Involvements column, the judge involved on the docket instance appears. This is a docket instance involved name that has a master code of 14 - Judge. If one of these ten docket instances meets your requirements, select it and click the Use Selected button. You can also use your keyboard to navigate to the desired docket instance and then press Enter. |
||
Next 10 button | If none of the docket instances displayed will work for you, you can click the Next 10 button. The Docket Instances area will refresh to show the next ten available instances. Continue this process until you find an instance that is compatible with the event you are trying to add. | ||
Date field | If you would like the displayed instances to start from a different date, use the date field next to the Next 10 button to type a date or select a date from the drop-down calendar provided. For example, if you specify the date as being January 20, 2010, then the Docket Instances area will only show matching docket instances that occur on or after January 20, 2010. | ||
Conflicts column |
The Conflicts column in the Docket Instances area shows a Details hyperlink for instances that are available to schedule but could create conflicts for Event Involved Persons. Click the Details hyperlink to open a report displaying each conflict for Event Involved Persons. You can use this information to make a decision to either schedule the event on that Calendar Docket instance scheduling block in spite of the conflicts, or to choose a different instance without conflicts. Several types of conflicts for event involved names are detected and displayed:

Override option | If you would like to enter an event into a docket instance that is already full or that has criteria that exclude the event, you can use the Override option to select the docket you want anyway. Click Override and select the docket(s) that you want to be displayed in the Docket Instances area regardless of criteria and availability, and they will now be available to select.
